Northbrook Baptist Church is seeking a spiritually mature, relationally present, gospel-driven Student Minister to help form the next generation into bold disciples of Jesus who know the gospel, live in biblical community, and engage the world on mission.
At Northbrook, we exist to equip the religiously saturated to become Kingdom Investors. We believe discipleship is more than information transfer or church activity. We want to see every generation formed into people who dwell in God’s presence, discover their calling, develop in biblical community, and deploy on mission.
The Opportunity
The Student Minister at Northbrook will lead a thriving and growing ministry to middle and high school students (7-12th grade) with the goal of forming bold, gospel-rooted disciples who follow Jesus in every area of life.
We are looking for more than an event planner or personality-driven youth pastor. We are praying for a disciple-maker and shepherd who:
Loves Jesus deeply
Proclaims the gospel boldly
Invests relationally in students and families
Builds and develops leaders
Aligns fully with the broader mission and discipleship pathway of Northbrook
This leader must possess both spiritual maturity and relational wisdom, understanding that meaningful discipleship happens through intentional presence, biblical truth, and consistent investment.
At Northbrook, student ministry is not viewed as a standalone ministry, but as a vital expression of the church’s larger disciple-making mission across generations.
What We Value Most
Gospel-Centered Leadership
We are looking for a leader who genuinely loves Jesus and believes the gospel truly transforms lives. We want someone who teaches and leads with conviction, courage, humility, and joy.
Relational Presence with Purpose
Student ministry is built on trust and intentional investment. We believe love is often spelled T.I.M.E. A strong candidate will not simply “hang out” with students, but will intentionally shepherd, challenge, encourage, and disciple them toward Christlikeness.
Leadership Development
We desire a builder who can identify, recruit, develop, and empower both students and adult leaders. Healthy ministries multiply leaders rather than depending entirely on one personality.
Emotional and Spiritual Maturity
Student ministry includes pressure, conflict, unpredictability, and moments of chaos. We are seeking a steady, emotionally mature leader who moves toward challenges with wisdom, courage, and grace.
Partnership with Families
We believe parents are the primary disciplers of their children. We want a Student Minister who communicates clearly, builds trust with families, and partners intentionally with parents in the discipleship process.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who:
Demonstrates a growing, vibrant walk with Christ
Has a clear calling to student ministry
Aligns with the mission, doctrine, and culture of Northbrook
Can teach Scripture clearly and faithfully
Builds healthy relationships with students, parents, and volunteers
Leads with humility, initiative, and emotional maturity
Has proven experience leading and developing ministries and leaders
Communicates clearly and consistently
Thrives in a collaborative team culture
Compensation
Compensation for this role is based on experience and ministry background, and includes benefits, ministry expense support, and intentional investment in leadership health and continued development. We desire to care well for the person and family God calls to this role so they can lead and serve faithfully for the long haul.
