Northbrook is looking for a new team member to help us take care of our grounds and facility!
The Groundskeeper is responsible for everyday upkeep of the grounds and landscaping and making sure the facilities are clean, operational, and prepared for all activities at Northbrook Baptist Church. The Groundskeeper reports to the Facilities Manager.
Essential Responsibilities
Grounds & Facility
Ensure the grounds and landscaping are presentable and prepared for all activities at Northbrook Baptist Church, including cutting the grass, weed eating, pressure washing as well as arranging furniture for regular or special events
Maintain appearance of flowers, shrubs, trees, etc. on the grounds
Assist in the upkeep of the interior of the facility when needed, including basic maintenance, painting, etc.
Assist in the care and maintenance of all equipment used in the upkeep of the facility and the grounds
Work with and support ministry team to accomplish mission and vision of the church
Other grounds and facility related duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager
Worship Services, Ministry Activities, and Events
Ensure all church facilities and grounds are clean and ready for regularly scheduled and special services and events, which may require evening and weekend work
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, make sure all facility related requests for an event are covered, which may require evening and weekend work
Required qualifications
A desire to serve in the local church
Ability to work with a volunteer team for special projects and events
Understanding of and alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the church
Must be flexible, adaptive, and creative in order to turn the ministry vision into action
Strong attention to detail
Capable of coordinating multiple tasks and adjusting to the changing priorities, meeting deadlines, and scheduling of a church
Demonstrate a strong work ethic and take initiative

Culture and Character
Employees of Northbrook are expected to become members of the church, fully embracing the values, mission, and purpose of our church. Additionally, all employees are expected to understand, affirm and adhere to our Affirmation of Faith, Bylaws, and other documents defining the beliefs, culture, and mission of Northbrook.
Employees also possess the character qualifications of biblical leadership in the church. At a minimum, each employee must agree and aspire to maturity in these qualifications, invite the authority of church community and leaders as a means of growth in them, and pursue them humbly and faithfully by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Hours, Compensation, and PTO
30 hours/week, Monday through Friday (Groundskeeper will work with the Facilities Manager to arrange the regular work schedule). As noted above, there may be times when the Groundskeeper is requested to work on evenings or weekends for special events.
Compensation: To be determined upon hiring
Holiday pay according to church’s calendar
2 weeks vacation, 2 personal days, 5 sick days per year (sick days may be accrued)
